Is it okay to use ATMs late in the evening in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines or should I stick to daytime withdrawals only? I am a single woman travelling so want to be safe.
Saint Vincent felt relaxed overall, but ATMs are scarce outside Kingstown. I wouldn’t say it’s dangerous, but withdrawing cash after dark in Saint Vincent isn't ideal - some areas get very quiet. I used a Republic Bank machine during the day and kept enough cash for the evenings.
Used a First Caribbean ATM at a small supermarket near Villa Beach around 8:30 PM. Felt safe - there were people around, and lighting was decent. But locals advised against walking far at night with visible cash. Travel tip: withdraw in daylight when banks are open, just in case your card is rejected.
I tried withdrawing cash in Bequia after dinner, and the one ATM in Port Elizabeth was down. That’s common here - late-night ATM use in the Grenadines isn’t always possible. Machines often run out of cash or shut off after dark. Bring EC dollars in advance, especially if you’re island-hopping.
I stayed near Kingstown and used a Bank of St Vincent ATM just off Bay Street after 9 PM. The street had light traffic and the machine worked with my Visa card. Locals said violent crime is low, but nighttime theft can happen near empty shops or bus terminals. ATM safety at night in Saint Vincent is okay in populated areas - avoid remote spots or machines outside bars.
