Is it okay to use ATMs late in the evening in Martinique or should I stick to daytime withdrawals only? I am a single woman travelling so want to be safe.

Martinique felt very secure overall. I used an ATM in Sainte-Anne after a beach dinner - it was outside a grocery store, and although the town was sleepy, I felt fine. No crowd, but no threats either. Still, I wouldn’t go searching for cash in rural parts at night. Daytime is safer and more reliable.

I was traveling with a French debit card and had no trouble withdrawing at night in Le Marin. There’s a BNP Paribas machine at the marina that’s open 24/7. That said, I did see one ATM near a bus stop with no lighting - I skipped that one. If you're withdrawing cash after dark in Martinique, just use common sense and stick to well-lit spots.

In Trois-Îlets, I tried withdrawing cash around 9 PM - the Banque Postale ATM outside a convenience store worked fine. The street was quiet but not sketchy. Martinique is generally safe, but it’s better to use ATMs attached to shops or hotels after dark, especially outside the main city.

ATM safety at night in Martinique was not a concern for me. I stayed in Fort-de-France and used a Credit Agricole ATM near the ferry port around 10 PM. The area was active and felt safe. Just avoid withdrawing cash in isolated streets or near the old market area when it’s closed for the night.
