Is it safe to withdraw cash in UAE or not?

I was staying in the Marina area of Dubai and withdrew money around 11 pm from a RAKBANK ATM outside a grocery store. The area was well-lit, people were around, and there were CCTV cameras visibly in place. I didn’t feel unsafe at all. Honestly, Dubai feels safer than most European cities I’ve travelled to. Just avoid using isolated machines behind buildings or in empty parking lots.

In Abu Dhabi, I used an ATM near Khalidiya late at night I think it was after midnight. It was next to a petrol station with lots of foot traffic and taxis coming and going. No shady characters, and I wasn’t approached by anyone. UAE has tight security standards and most public places are under surveillance. Still, I’d avoid cash withdrawals in less busy areas unless it’s urgent.

I’ve travelled through Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah and used ATMs at various times of day, including late evening. One night I had to withdraw from a CBD machine near Al Majaz around 10:30 pm. It was fine, but I did feel a bit more comfortable when I switched to ATMs inside malls or 24-hour supermarkets. Most UAE cities are safe, but I always go for well-lit, visible spots just to be cautious.

Just returned from a solo trip in Dubai and pulled cash at an Emirates NBD ATM near the Business Bay metro around 9:45 pm. The area had lots of people, cars, and was well-monitored. It didn’t feel sketchy at all. That said, I made it a point to withdraw earlier in the day when possible and only used outdoor ATMs at night if they were right in front of open shops or cafes.

ADIB ATMs are super crowded on Fridays and Saturdays. Avoid if you can.
