In planning mode - how much budget should I keep in mind for Spain - any experiences?

My 12-day trip across Valencia and Madrid cost me just under 1000 euros all in. I used my SEB debit card and Starling card for ATM withdrawals and payments. Most hostels were around 30 to 40 euros per night for a bed in a 6-person dorm. Daily spend was about 20 euros on food if I ate at local tapas spots like Lizarran or grabbed bocadillos. I paid 10 euros for entry to Reina Sofia and another 3 euros for a guided tour in Valencia’s old town. I used the Free Now app for taxis a few times and linked it to my card. Train between the cities was about 35 euros. I’d say 80 to 85 euros a day gives you a comfortable trip with some room for extras.

I did a 9-day trip with my Revolut card and mostly spent about 60 euros a day. I stayed in dorm rooms that were around 28 to 35 euros and cooked some meals in hostel kitchens. Carrefour and Dia supermarkets had affordable groceries and I spent maybe 20 euros on food every two days. I walked a lot so transport costs were low except a few metro rides in Barcelona using a T-casual ticket. Museums sometimes had free entry after 6pm so I took advantage of that. One big spend was the Sagrada Familia which was 26 euros with the tower. My ATM withdrawals were done at Banco Santander to avoid independent machine fees. Total cost was just over 550 euros.

I budgeted 100 euros per day and was surprised I stayed mostly under it. I used my Mashreq Mastercard and Wise card for payments and withdrew from ING ATMs which were cheaper than Euronet. Hostels were around 25 to 35 euros per night. Tapas in Málaga were affordable, I paid about 3 euros per dish and wine was 2 to 3 euros a glass. Day trips to Córdoba and Toledo from Madrid were around 30 euros round trip by train. Flamenco show tickets in Seville cost me 18 euros and I got combo entry for Alcázar and the Cathedral for 16. I also used Uber a few times which cost around 7 to 10 euros for short rides. My 10-day trip cost around 900 euros including some light shopping.

I travelled solo for two weeks across Madrid, Seville and Barcelona and kept a daily budget of about 70 to 90 euros. I used my Chase Sapphire Preferred for most payments and withdrew some euros using my Charles Schwab debit card from BBVA and CaixaBank ATMs which refunded fees. Hostels cost me around 30 euros a night in shared dorms, metro tickets were cheap and food could be as little as 10 euros for a full meal in places like 100 Montaditos or Mercado de San Miguel. I splurged maybe twice on dinner for 25 euros with wine in El Born. Entry to the Prado Museum was 15 euros and Park Güell was under 12. My total for 14 days was about 1100 euros not counting flights.
