Visited Dnipro, Lviv, and Kyiv across April-May. I budgeted $50/day and found it more than enough, even with the occasional wine bar or guided tour. Transport is cheap - intercity trains cost $5-10 if booked early. Taxis via Bolt are reliable and cashless. Meals ranged from $3 street food to $10 for upscale dinners. I usually tipped 10%, but it’s not enforced. If you're planning a one-month Ukraine trip, $1,200 gives you comfort with room for museum entries or occasional splurges.

I stayed near Taras Shevchenko University in Kyiv and spent about $25/day all in. Used the metro everywhere - so clean and just a few hryvnia per ride. Cafeteria lunches at uni were like $2, and even outside places were rarely over $5-6 unless I splurged. Most of my spending was on SIM/data, some local trips, and tips. People don’t expect tips at coffee stands or taxis, but I left 10% at sit-down restaurants. Budget-wise, Ukraine is amazing right now.

I worked remotely from Lviv for 5 weeks this year. Rented a nice Airbnb in the center ($400/month), ate out once a day, and used Bolt for local rides. My Ukraine daily budget was about $45/day. Cafe meals were super affordable - even places with English menus rarely charged more than $8. I tipped 10% at nicer restaurants, but most people just round up. Public transport was cheap and reliable, and I set aside extra for weekend trips to Ivano-Frankivsk and the Carpathians.

I was in Ukraine for a full month this spring - stayed in hostels, traveled by train and marshrutka, and kept to a tight budget. Averaged $30-35/day, which covered food (cheap and hearty!), metro rides in Kyiv (~$0.40 per ride), and intercity trains. Meals at local cafes cost around $4-6, and I tipped 10% in restaurants. It’s one of the most affordable countries in Europe right now. If you’re doing Ukraine on a budget, $900-$1,100/month is realistic.
