I need to take out quite a bit of cash during my trip. Anyone know cheapest ATMs & daily withdrawal limits for foreign cards at Italy ATMs?
In Venice I found free-to-use ATMs at Banco BPM and Credit Agricole with no ATM access fees. The machines let me take 1000 per withdrawal. I hit the daily limit on my US card fast but avoided shady IBT kiosks at the airport. Tip: test your PIN in advance and bring two cards in case one hits its limit.I need to take out quite a bit of cash during my trip. I used Wise and Revolut in Florence. Avoided Euronet machines - they slapped me with steep fees. I stuck to big bank machines from UniCredit or Intesa or BNL, or BPER Banca or Credem. With Wise, I chose eur only, no dynamic conversion, and paid just my bank’s fee. Coz the bank based ATMs in Italy did not charge me at all any extra fees.I need to take out quite a bit of cash during my trip. Used my Bank of America debit (part of Global ATM Alliance) at a BNL ATM in Milan and bypassed BofA’s foreign ATM fees. Overall very cheap way to get cash.
I withdrew €500 in one go from an Intesa Sanpaolo ATM in Rome with my US Chase debit card. Most Italian machines let you take €250 - €1,000 per transaction, but they also enforce daily limits which depend on your home bank. Intesa didn’t charge extra besides the usual €5 ATM fee on my UK card so it was worth doing fewer, larger withdrawals.
Monte dei Paschi ATM worked well - withdrew €500 and could choose note denominations. No fees or conversion warnings shown.
ATM at BPER Banca in Italy claimed to be fee-free but charged me €5. Not transparent.
BNL ATM in Italy didnt charge a fee for my Visa, but charged €5 for Mastercard - choose wisely.
Credit Agricole in Italy didnt charge any fee for withdrawing €1,000 - smooth and easy.
