I need to take out quite a bit of cash during my trip. Anyone know cheapest ATMs & daily withdrawal limits for foreign cards at Austria ATMs?
In Linz, I used a Bawag P.S.K. ATM with my Citi Mastercard. It allowed €400 per withdrawal, charged €4.95, which Citi reimbursed. Best ATMs in Austria for fee‑free withdrawals? Stick with Oberbank. Always take only two withdrawals per day to avoid hitting daily caps. I avoided touristy kiosks - often unreliable and expensive.
I withdrew from Sparkasse ATMs in Innsbruck using a Schwab debit card, €400 at once, with a fee of 3.90€. Major Austrian bank ATMs offer fair limits (usually €400-500 per withdrawal) and low fees, especially when paired with fee‑reimbursing cards. Smaller banks sometimes limit foreign withdrawals to €300 max. I split my withdrawals across days to stay within safe limits.
During two months in Graz, I primarily used Raiffeisen Bank ATMs. With my Revolut Visa, I could withdraw €400 per session, twice a day, with a small €3.95 fee covered by Revolut’s monthly allowance. Foreign‑card ATM withdrawals in Austria are cheapest at high‑street banks. Machines inside branches are reliable and reset limits at midnight. Avoid supermarket ATMs, which often impose a €3-4 surcharge plus hidden markups.
Used my Wise card at Oberbank - NO FEES. For our trip in innsbruck this was the only fee-free ATM. Went there always in the morning. Withdrawal up to Euro400 🤩
Used my Revolut card at BAWAG in Austria - zero fees. ATM was working and safe, no issues at all.
OberBank in Austria doesnt charge any ATM fees if you go between 9 AM and 12 PM. Worked fine when I tried!
Withdrew €200 at DenizBank in Austria and got charged a €3.50 fee. ATM was functioning, though a little slow.
