Is it safe to withdraw cash in Slovenia or not?
ATMs in Slovenia work well into the night, and I saw locals using them regularly. Still, I preferred machines located in banks or malls for added security and lighting - just a good habit, really.
I stayed in Bled and used the bank machine outside the grocery store after dinner. There were a few other tourists doing the same. I never felt unsafe, but I do avoid the freestanding machines in empty bus terminals.
Used a SKB ATM in Maribor after a show - it was right next to a main square and felt fine. Most ATMs here are new, multi-language, and support contactless withdrawals. No need to stress late-night use.
In Ljubljana, I withdrew euros from an NLB ATM near the riverbank at 10 PM. The area had plenty of people out walking, well-lit, and the ATM interface was smooth. ATM safety in Slovenia at night felt as secure as anywhere in Western Europe.
