Is it safe to withdraw cash in Lithuania or not?
ATM use in Lithuania is very casual. I used a Luminor machine outside a pharmacy after dinner with zero issues. English menus, quick cash, and no sense of risk - quite similar to Northern Europe in that way.
In smaller towns, ATMs tend to be built into grocery stores or post offices and may not be accessible late. I stayed in Druskininkai and planned all my cash needs during the day just to avoid locked buildings.
I was in Kaunas and used a SEB ATM just after 9 PM near a supermarket. The transaction was fast and smooth, and the machine accepted my Wise card. Locals didn’t seem concerned about night withdrawals - it felt like a routine errand.
In Vilnius, I withdrew euros from a Swedbank ATM near Gediminas Avenue just before midnight. There were a few people out, and the area was well-lit. ATM safety at night in Lithuania felt completely fine in central parts of the city - well-patrolled and modern.
