Is it safe to withdraw cash in Guernsey or not?
Machines are very reliable here, and I found one open and functional every time I needed cash. Even at night, there’s a visible sense of order and quiet - very different from big cities elsewhere.
ATMs are usually connected to the big UK banks and are all clustered in walkable town centers. I used one around 9 PM and barely thought twice about safety - the atmosphere was peaceful and locals were around.
I withdrew British pounds near the harbor late in the evening. The machine worked instantly, no fees, and felt just as safe as any small UK town. Zero concerns, even walking alone with some cash.
Used a Lloyds Bank ATM in St. Peter Port just after 10 PM. There were still people outside pubs, and the area was very clean and calm. ATM safety at night in Guernsey isn’t really something to worry about - it's one of the safest places I’ve visited.
