Is it safe to withdraw cash in Faroe Islands or not?
I withdrew money twice at night during my trip, and both times it was uneventful. The islands are incredibly safe, and there’s no visible risk in withdrawing cash, even late.
Stayed in Klaksvík and used a small ATM near a Coop store. Even late at night, it was accessible and reliable. Most ATMs support English language menus and accept foreign debit cards easily.
I withdrew Danish krone at a Foroya Bank ATM after a quiet evening walk. Nobody was around, but I felt no tension or concern. ATMs here are dependable, and there’s a deep sense of public trust - very Scandinavian in that sense.
In Tórshavn, I used a Betri Bank ATM at 10 PM just outside the harbor area. It was well-lit, surrounded by late-night cafes, and completely safe. ATM use in the Faroe Islands at night is worry-free - crime rates are near zero, and infrastructure is excellent.
