Is it safe to withdraw cash in Bosnia and Herzegovina or not?

Used a Sberbank ATM inside Sarajevo City Center mall after hoursit was accessible and secure even at night. I’d say stick to indoor or bank ATMs if you need to withdraw cash after dark. Wouldn’t risk it at corner stores or random kiosks after 10 pm.

In Mostar I avoided taking out cash at night unless it was urgent. Did it once around midnight at a Nova Banka ATM next to a hotel entrancesafe enough, but I still kept my bag close and watched for anyone hanging around. Bosnia’s not dangerous, but petty theft is a thing.

I was in Banja Luka in April and used a Raiffeisen ATM outside their branch around 11 pm. It was well-lit and right next to a police kiosk, so felt totally fine. Just avoid those standalone ATMs in alleyways or at gas stationsuse ones attached to banks or malls.

I withdrew cash late at night in Sarajevo near Baščaršija and didn’t feel unsafe, but I stuck to ATMs that are built into actual bank branches with CCTV. I’d avoid using machines on empty streets or near bars after dark. Locals told me pickpocketing does happen occasionally.
