Is it okay to use ATMs late in the evening in Finland or should I stick to daytime withdrawals only? I am a single woman travelling so want to be safe.

Spent 10 days in Finland during winter and never felt unsafe using ATMs at night. In Turku, I withdrew money near the ferry terminal at 10 PM - peaceful, no issues. Finland’s infrastructure is reliable, and the crime rate is incredibly low. Use Otto-branded ATMs for the best coverage and avoid tourist-zone surcharge machines.

I’m a slow traveler and lived in Tampere for a few weeks. I often walked home late and used the S-Bank ATM at a Prisma supermarket - secure even after hours. ATM safety at night in Finland is top-tier. That said, don’t expect ATMs in forests or tiny towns - withdraw in cities when you can.

During my train journey through Lapland, I stayed in Rovaniemi and withdrew cash at 9:30 PM from a Nordea ATM. No one around, but it felt safe. Finland has low crime, so withdrawing cash after dark isn’t a worry. Still, I kept most payments digital - you rarely need cash unless you’re in remote areas.

I used an Otto ATM near Helsinki Central Station at midnight after a concert - no problems at all. The city is well-lit, clean, and calm even late. ATM safety at night in Finland is excellent. Just avoid Euronet machines if you care about fees. Locals rarely use cash, but ATMs are reliable if needed.
