Tried 3 different banks in Bosnia and Herzegovina and my Revolut card kept getting declined. Is this a Revolut issue or a Bosnia and Herzegovina thing? Worked fine in Thailand last week.
Same situation here. In Tuzla, I tried three different ATMs with my Revolut Visa and it was always declined. A guy at my hostel said it happens often because some Bosnian banks filter out cards from online-only banks. Eventually I used an ATM from Nova Banka that worked. Pro tip: always carry a backup cardRevolut isn’t always reliable in the Balkans.
I was in Mostar in May and Revolut was hit-or-miss. It got declined at a Konzum ATM and then again at an Intesa Sanpaolo machine. Finally found a UniCredit ATM inside Mepas Mall that accepted it, but I had to choose “no conversion” to avoid getting slapped with a crazy exchange rate. Seems like certain banks in Bosnia are more Revolut-friendly than others.
I had the same issue in Banja Luka last April. My Revolut card worked flawlessly in Southeast Asia, but in Bosnia it got rejected at every ATM I tried, including Addiko and ASA Banka. Locals told me it's common because not all terminals here support foreign-issued Visa debit cards from non-traditional banks. It’s not Revolut’s fault, more a compatibility gap with the banking system here.
Just dealt with this in Sarajevo last month. Tried my Revolut card at a Raiffeisen, an NLB Banka, and one Sberbank ATM. All three either timed out or gave me generic error messages. Went into a UniCredit branch and the teller told me some banks here reject foreign fintech cards automatically. Ended up using my Wise card instead with no issue.
