The ATM just swallowed my debit card and didnt return it. This was in Liechtenstein, close to where Im staying. Any idea if local banks can help? Help SOS how to get it back

I had my Revolut Mastercard taken by a UBS ATM near the border late on a Friday. By Monday morning, they said the card had already been destroyed. I had to cancel and rely on my Monzo backup. Liechtenstein is very card-reliant, but losing a main card was still stressful. Lesson: withdraw during working hours and carry a second card plus some CHF.

My Wise Visa was swallowed by an LLB ATM in Vaduz. I went into the branch the next morning, and after checking my passport, they gave it back in about 30 minutes. The staff were polite and professional. A travel buddy also had a good experience with VP Bank in Schaan. If you use ATMs attached to branches, recovery in Liechtenstein is usually smooth.

In Liechtenstein, ATMs are operated by LLB (Liechtensteinische Landesbank), VP Bank, and some Swiss banks like UBS. If your card is taken, go to the branch with your passport. LLB usually allows retrieval if you act quickly, but foreign cards may be destroyed within 24-48 hours. Always call the hotline printed on the ATM. Liechtenstein is very card-friendly, but always carry CHF or euros as backup.

My card got trapped in a LLB (Liechtensteinische Landesbank) ATM in Vaduz near the main museum. The screen froze and then reset, swallowing the card. I went into the branch the next day and they explained they collect captured cards daily but will only return them to their own customers. Foreign cards are usually destroyed for security. Your best move is to cancel it straight away with your bank. Liechtenstein is small but pricey, so I recommend having backup euros or a Revolut/Monzo card.
