The ATM just swallowed my debit card and didnt return it. This was in Jersey UK, close to where Im staying. Any idea if local banks can help? Help SOS how to get it back

I had my Revolut Mastercard taken by a Barclays ATM on a Friday night. By Monday, they said it had already been destroyed for security. I had to cancel and rely on my Monzo backup. Jersey is card-friendly, but some cafés and buses still prefer cash, so I had to juggle for a bit. Best advice: avoid withdrawing at weekends, and always travel with at least two cards and some GBP cash.

My Wise Visa was swallowed by a NatWest International ATM in St Helier. I went into the branch the next morning, and the staff returned it after verifying my details. They said it was a reader error and were very professional. A fellow traveller also got their Monzo card back from HSBC. If you stick to branch ATMs, recovery is usually straightforward in Jersey.

In Jersey, ATMs are mainly operated by HSBC, Barclays, Lloyds, and NatWest International. If your card is captured, go to the branch with your passport. HSBC and NatWest usually allow retrieval if you report it quickly, but cards not collected within 24-48 hours may be destroyed. Call the hotline shown on the ATM right away. Jersey is mostly card-friendly, but taxis and small shops sometimes still prefer cash.

My Barclays debit card got swallowed at an HSBC ATM on King Street in St. Helier. Staff at the branch were super helpful but explained they can’t hand foreign cards back for security. They mail them back to the issuing bank, which takes weeks. Just cancel the card right away and ask for an emergency replacement from your bank.
