My card was taken by an ATM near my hotel in France. Has this happened to anyone else? Solution?
Never happened to me I always used Banque Postale ATMs. But if it happens, always take a photo of the ATM, note the location and exact time, and go to the nearest branch as soon as they open. If it’s a standalone ATM or you can’t recover it quickly, block the card and move on. Having a virtual card or secondary backup really saved me.

I lost my Revolut card to a AXA Banque ATM in Marseille and it wasn’t attached to a bank, just one of those standalones at a grocery store. The number on the machine led to a general support line who said they couldn’t help and that the card would likely be destroyed. Ended up freezing the card in the app and using Apple Pay for the rest of my trip until the new card arrived.
Same thing in Paris. My Monzo card got eaten by a BNP Paribas ATM near Montparnasse. I called the number printed on the machine right away and they told me to come to the branch with ID. The next day the staff checked their log and returned the card. They said they destroy foreign cards after 48 hours if unclaimed so acting fast really helps. My card was taken by an ATM near my hotel in France. Has this happened to anyone else? Solution?
Happened to me in Nice outside a Crédit Agricole branch. The ATM froze during the transaction and then just swallowed my card. No error message, no beep, nothing. I went to the branch the next morning with my passport and a photo of the ATM and they were able to give it back to me within five minutes. They said as long as it’s a bank-attached ATM and not a standalone, they usually recover cards during their daily cash check. My card was taken by an ATM near my hotel in France. Kinda same happened to me. Bred Banque ATM froze during my transaction. Couldnt read the receipt, so not sure if I was charged a fee or not. Lost my card too.
CIC ATM in France ate my card! Thankfully, I was able to call the bank and they helped recover it. Customer support was helpful but only spoke French.
