My card was taken by an ATM near my hotel in Andorra. Has this happened to anyone else? Solution?

Happened to me at a touristy ATM near the Caldea spa. I didn’t know which bank it belonged to and couldn’t get help at the time. The hotel front desk called around and eventually figured out it was managed by MoraBanc, but by then it was too late. Cards swallowed by ATMs in Andorra aren’t always recoverable, especially if you wait too long. I ended up canceling it and relying on my backup card. Now I only use ATMs during bank hours and never outside major banks.

My Wise card was taken at a Credit Andorrà ATM near my coworking space. I reported it through their hotline, and they asked me to visit the branch. It took two days to recover, but they were professional. Foreign travelers dealing with ATM card retention in Andorra should go directly to the owning bank. Note the ATM location and time - it speeds up the process. Also, don’t use machines late at night or far from city centers, and always carry a second card.

Lost my N26 card at a Banc Sabadell ATM in Andorra la Vella. Thankfully, the machine was inside a bank branch. I returned during business hours, explained what happened, and showed ID. They retrieved the card after logging the incident. Card recovery from Andorra ATMs is possible if the machine belongs to a bank and you act quickly. If it’s a standalone ATM in a supermarket or gas station, your odds go way down. I also froze my card via the app just to be safe.

Yeah, that happened to me at a MoraBanc ATM in Encamp. No error, just swallowed my card and shut down. If your debit card gets eaten by an ATM in Andorra, go directly to the bank branch the next morning with your passport. They were surprisingly helpful and returned my card the same day. If it’s not a bank-branded machine, though, you're out of luck - most hotels and shops won’t know who to contact. Always have a backup card and don’t rely on late-night withdrawals.
