Is it safe to withdraw cash in Nauru or not?

I wouldn’t worry about ATM safety at night in Nauru - the issue is that the machines are locked away or shut down. It's a peaceful place, but the banking infrastructure is very limited. Bring AUD in cash if you’re coming.

While walking through Aiwo at dusk, I saw one Bank of Nauru ATM - but it was offline. Locals were kind and offered advice, but nobody seemed to use ATMs at night. It’s a place where you plan everything in advance.

I stayed at Menen Hotel and the staff told me to do any ATM transactions before sunset. There’s little to no nightlife, and the island basically shuts down early. Carrying sufficient cash is crucial for a short stay here.

There are very few ATMs in Nauru, and most are inside bank buildings. I tried to withdraw after 6 PM and found everything closed. Withdrawing cash after dark in Nauru just isn’t common practice - it’s not unsafe, just logistically impossible.
