Is it okay to use ATMs late in the evening in Wallis and Futuna or should I stick to daytime withdrawals only? I am a single woman travelling so want to be safe.

There’s no nighttime scene here, and most places shut by 7 PM. I always made sure I had enough cash well in advance. The locals are kind and trusting - the need for late ATM trips just didn’t come up.

Wallis and Futuna run almost entirely on cash. I didn't attempt to use the ATM after dark - not out of fear, but because I was told by the guesthouse manager that it might not have funds overnight. It’s just not a 24-hour culture.

The island was peaceful, and crime wasn’t a concern. I used the only ATM during the day, but I passed it once at night and it looked operational. No lighting around it, though, and the area was empty.

Only one working ATM on Wallis - attached to the Banque de Wallis in Mata-Utu. I tried it just after 8 PM and found the building closed. Locals said the ATM technically works 24/7, but power cuts make night access unreliable.
