Is it safe to withdraw cash in Armenia or not?

I withdrew AMD from a VTB Armenia ATM near my hostel close to Cascade. No problems - street was lit, others were using it too, and it felt safe. Didn’t rush, didn’t feel watched, which says a lot for a capital city at night.

Used a Converse Bank ATM in downtown Yerevan after dinner. The area had cafes still open and pedestrian traffic. The experience felt no different than any European city. I’d still avoid using machines tucked into alleyways, especially around Republic Square where the streets thin out late.

While staying in Dilijan, the only ATM available was inside a supermarket. I tried it just after 8 PM, and it was functional, but the area was already shutting down. Rural towns tend to go quiet early. Withdrawing cash at night in Armenia outside Yerevan isn’t always possible - machines can be offline or closed with the shop.

In Yerevan, I withdrew money from an Ameriabank ATM on Northern Avenue around 9:45 PM. The street was well-lit and buzzing with people, so I didn’t feel unsafe. The ATM interface was in English and Armenian, and my foreign Visa card worked fine. Nighttime ATM safety in Armenia, especially in the capital, is generally reliable in high-traffic zones.
