Is it okay to use ATMs late in the evening in Pakistan or should I stick to daytime withdrawals only? I am a single woman travelling so want to be safe.
I travelled solo through Islamabad and Lahore this March, and while Pakistan was overall friendlier than I expected, I always stuck to daytime ATM use. Most ATMs are located outdoors, even at major banks, and while some areas are safe, things quiet down quickly after sunset. I found it much more comfortable to withdraw cash during the day when security guards were visible and more people were around. Even in the Blue Area of Islamabad, I’d avoid night-time ATM runs unless you’re in a hotel or mall with 24/7 staff and cameras.
Meezan ATM is located inside the bank, so it felt safer and more convenient.
Cash was available anytime I needed it. I felt safe using the ATM too.
