Is it okay to use ATMs late in the evening in Georgia or should I stick to daytime withdrawals only? I am a single woman travelling so want to be safe.

I was volunteering in Sighnaghi and found that the town pretty much shuts down after 9 PM. One evening I walked to the center and the ATM was out of service. Locals said that’s common. Georgia’s safe overall, but ATM reliability drops in smaller towns. Best to plan withdrawals for earlier in the day.

I stayed in Batumi near the boardwalk and often withdrew cash after dinner. ATMs from Liberty Bank or Terabank worked well and were in safe, visible areas. The city has a laid-back feel, even at night. For anyone wondering about withdrawing cash after dark in Georgia - major cities are fine, but bring backup cash if heading to remote regions.

While slow-traveling through Kutaisi, I needed cash after arriving on a late flight. Found a TBC Bank ATM outside the airport - smooth, no issues. The streets were quiet but not threatening. Most travelers I met agreed Georgia is safe for nighttime withdrawals in urban areas, though it’s still best to avoid dimly lit corners or local bus terminals.

Tbilisi felt extremely safe, even late at night. I withdrew money from a Bank of Georgia ATM near Liberty Square around 11 PM with no problems. There were people out, good lighting, and security cameras. ATM safety at night in Georgia is reliable in major cities. Just avoid the old-style standalone machines, and you’ll be fine.
