Is it okay to use ATMs late in the evening in Azerbaijan or should I stick to daytime withdrawals only? I am a single woman travelling so want to be safe.

I work remotely and lived in Baku for two months. Used night ATMs often - especially at Xalq Bank and Premium Bank. Well-lit, well-placed, and never felt unsafe. Baku’s city center has a modern vibe and police presence, so withdrawing cash after dark in Azerbaijan isn’t a major risk - just avoid isolated areas late at night.

As a backpacker in Ganja, I found night withdrawals tricky. Many ATMs were either offline or wouldn’t accept my foreign card. Pulled cash from a Pasha Bank ATM around 9 PM and was fine, but the streets were mostly empty. Azerbaijan’s not unsafe, but solo travelers should be mindful. Best to top up in Baku before heading out.

solo traveler here - I wouldn’t say it’s dangerous, but I got uncomfortable withdrawing money near Nizami Street after 10 PM. A few guys loitering, not aggressive, just a bit unsettling. The Unibank ATM worked fine, but I switched to daytime only after that. Stick to big hotels or the Flame Towers area if you need cash late.

I was based in Baku’s Yasamal district and often withdrew cash late from Kapital Bank ATMs. Honestly, ATM safety at night in Azerbaijan felt pretty normal - security cameras are common, and most bank machines are near shops or pharmacies that stay open late. I kept my Wise card handy and never ran into issues. Would still avoid dim side streets though.
