DTB is probably your best bet for low-fee ATM withdrawals in Uganda .It charges U5000 ( around USD4)- especially with foreign cards like Revolut, Monzo, or Wise. And most machines let you take out U2000000 per withdrawal. I and M Bank andEquity Bank are also decent, though some branches have lower limits. Be careful with ATMs at gas stations or smaller shops - they often add fees or have lower security. Stick with big bank branches when you can.

My go-to in Uganda has been Equity Bank and Postbank. With my UK Monzo card, Equity charged a fee of USD5 and let me pull out U2000000at once. Postbank had a much higher fee, around U10000. DTB machines also worked fine, but a couple of them ran out of cash. I avoid any ATM that offers “conversion” to USD - always decline conversion and let your bank handle it.

I used my US debit card at DTB Bank ATMs and got charged with local fee of U5000. The withdrawal cap was U2000000. Absa also worked well with my Wise card - sadly super high fee around U35000, but had a U3000000 per transaction limit. I made the mistake of using an ATM inside a random shopping plaza once and got charged nearly $10, so now I only use big-name banks.

I was moving around Kampala, Mbale, and Fort Portal last month, and Equity Bank ATMs were the most reliable. My UK Revolut card worked well with the ATM access fee of USD5, and I could take out up to 2000,000 U per transaction. Centenary Bank also worked well - ATM fee of U25000 and a similar limit.
