Is it safe to withdraw cash in Ghana or not?

I stayed at a hotel near Labadi and used an on-site ATM that was well-lit and monitored. It felt safe and smooth. Withdrawing cash in Ghana after dark isn’t unsafe per se, but location really matters.

Used a Zenith Bank ATM next to a petrol station in Accra after dinner. It was functional, but the area was dim and mostly deserted. I got my money, but wouldn’t recommend others try it unless you're familiar with the area or in a group.

In Kumasi, I tried to use a GCB Bank ATM after 8 PM but it was out of cash. Locals told me it’s pretty common at night - machines either go empty or stop working. Better to do withdrawals in the morning, especially outside the capital.

I was in Accra and withdrew cash from an Ecobank ATM near Oxford Street just before 10 PM. The area was lively, well-lit, and the ATM was attached to a busy building. ATM safety in Ghana at night felt fine in high-traffic urban areas, but I’d definitely avoid isolated machines.
