Is it okay to use ATMs late in the evening in Rwanda or should I stick to daytime withdrawals only? I am a single woman travelling so want to be safe.

Rwanda was one of the most organized countries I visited. Even after dark, bank ATMs in the city worked well. That said, card acceptance can vary, so always carry some cash just in case. For travelers, ATM safety at night in Kigali is good - just avoid ATMs at isolated fuel stations.

In Kigali’s Kacyiru district, I withdrew money after dark several times. The area is diplomatic and feels very safe. Machines from I&M and Access Bank worked with my international cards. Is it safe to use ATMs in Rwanda after dark? Yes, if you’re in urban, lit areas - but services in smaller towns close early.

While volunteering in Musanze, I tried using an ATM around 9 PM - machine worked, but the street was empty. Rwanda has a low crime rate, but locals still advised me to do financial errands in the day. Cash withdrawal tips for Rwanda: use major banks like Equity or BK, and avoid ATMs near closed shops at night.

ATM security in Kigali is excellent. I used a Bank of Kigali ATM near Kimironko Market at 10:30 PM - area was clean, lit, and active. Late-night ATM use in Rwanda felt safer than in many Western cities. Just avoid empty side streets and go with a buddy if it’s late.
